Denise S. Gieski
President/Chief Executive Officer

Denise Gieski has been Mercy Tyler Hospital’s president and chief executive since 2008. Previously, she had served as Mercy Tyler’s Vice President of Nursing. Gieski also served as the hospital’s director of quality.

Denise is a 1986 graduate of Marywood University, where she earned her bachelor of science in nursing. Ms. Gieski received her masters degree in human resources, with an emphasis on healthcare administration, from the University of Scranton in 1989.

In addition to her professional accomplishments, Ms. Gieski served briefly on the Montrose Area School Board and is a member of St. Joachim Roman Catholic Church, Meshoppen, where she taught Sunday school for several years.


Carol Berry, RN, BS, MHA
Vice President of Nursing

Ms. Berry began her career at the hospital in the ICU in 1978, following nine years as a Certified Orthopedic Nurse Specialist.

Ms. Berry is a 1966 graduate of Scranton State General Hospital School of Nursing and earned a BS from the University of Scranton in 1991. In 1994, the Dunmore resident earned an MHA (Master of Health Administration) from the University of Scranton. The Dunmore resident is a member and past president of the Board of Directors of EMSNP (Emergency Medical Services of Northeastern Pennsylvania) and is a paramedic and member of the Critical Incident Stress Management Team of EMSNP.
